Statement of PurposeRaise awareness of each pre-teen and teen that they can have a personal faith in Jesus Christ. GoalsTeach our Youth to Value themselves and others as
children of the creator Vehicle: Summer Games Camp 1. Give equal weight to physical growth, spiritual growth and emotional growth by no-skill games, by worship, praise, and teaching, by developing relational skills in huddles (small families). 2. Huddle Leaders (usually ages 16 and up) provide support, guidance, witness, parenting, encouragement as well as active participation in all activities. Campers are from 4th grade (9 years old) to 9th grade (14 years old). Tenth graders are eligible to become huddle assistants. 3. Two huddle leaders along with required adult counselors provide at least four or more support people available to each camper. A teen boy and teen girl parent the huddle during the day providing individual attention at a maximum ratio of 3 campers to 1 huddle leader, the huddle members eat together, play games together and worship together. It is possible that a camper will not have the same person serving as his/her huddle leader and cabin leader. the ratio of campers to cabin leaders is 4 to 1 and adult counselors provide night-time supervision and personal attention 4. Intentional opportunities to encounter Christ personally are provided through worship, prayer and praise, special speakers, witnessing by teens, games, evening programs and music. Within these events are times for personal commitment to Christ. 5. Evening programs include the opportunity for commitment to Christ on Monday evening, special music, concerts, skits and speakers on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, the crucifixion pageant (a re-enactment of Christ’s’ crucifixion by 3 young men on life sized crosses) on Thursday night, resurrection service and communion on Friday morning and open mic on Friday evening. Each of these programs ends on a worshipful and prayerful note. 6. There is intentional exposure to the variety of calls to ministry including pastoral, Christian education, music and other professional ministry as well as the ministry of parenting, caring, teaching and way of life. 7. An important aspect of summer games is that the huddle leaders are close enough in age (1 to 6 years) to the campers to serve as role models and peers. Christian leadership is developed by giving youth the opportunity to be responsible for themselves and those younger. Statistics indicate that the #1 reason youth leave the church is that they have been given no responsibility. Youth experience leadership as huddle leaders and cabin leaders increasing their awareness of their responsibility as a role model to those younger and peers. Adult leaders (ages 22 and older) are in close physical proximity to huddle leaders to provide support and help. huddle leader training is provided prior to camp at a weekend retreat 8. Youth have the opportunity to contribute to a camership fund that is used to help other youth come to summer games. This fund is held and used at the discretion of the summer games deans. 9.Cost --- $220 for campers before may 1st ---$270 after may 1st huddle leaders pay $180 10.
